The Throat chakra in animals
Updated: Mar 15
The Throat chakra in animals is situated in the upper throat area, over the laryngeal region. It is associated with the colour blue and various shades of blue coloured crystals, such as Aquamarine and Lapis Lazuli.
Blue is an incredibly calming and soothing colour which is known to be associated with all things related to communication and the intellect. It’s a colour that represents wisdom, freedom, intuition, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity.

The Throat chakra is linked to the thyroid, neck vertebrae, esophagus, mouth, teeth and gums. If your animal has any issues with these areas, such as neck and shoulder aches, tooth pain, hearing sensitivities, jaw pain or TMJ, then their throat chakra may show signs of imbalance during a reiki session.
Having a well-balanced Throat chakra means that your animal is able to clearly communicate their needs well to you, on a verbal level, and understand you as their owner. They are able get their point across clearly and without excessive extremes of vocalisation; this means that they can listen and respond appropriately to your voice.

Here are some key indicators of Throat chakra imbalances in animals:
· Their feelings can get trapped energetically in the throat, and this can lead to loud or unusual vocalisations. For example, as very drawn out or very high or low pitched and sometimes distressing sounds
· Challenges with communication. For example, they may seem very quiet and withdrawn if they are usually vocal, or very vocal if they are usually quiet
· They can become overly dominant and aggressive in the presence of other animals (very vocal) and sometimes also with you as their owner
· They may struggle to focus on you and your voice as you speak to them. This can include them seeming to ignore you, being disobedient or appearing disinterested when you talk to them or call their name
Aside from reiki healing, sound therapy can be very healing for this chakra, and especially soothing music designed specifically for animals. Chanting or singing soothing songs near your animal can also help support the healing process.
